A couple of weeks ago, my husband and I treated ourselves to a very entertaining evening of a capella featuring Pacific Showtime Chorus. www.pacificshowtimechorus.com
No other form of music showcases the human voice as the magnificent instrument that it is. Because there are no other instruments involved, the voice replaces drumbeats, piano harmonies, and even sassy brass instruments. Needless to say, the members of such a chorus have to have a magnificent collective vocal range to cover all the sections of a band. It's amazing to witness!
I was inspired not only by the musical talent of this group of older gentlemen, but also by their perseverance of their passion. These men get together regularly, rehearse, and perform for no other reason than for the sheer fun of it...how many things do YOU do in your life for that very reason? I think it's vital to one's health to ask that question time and again, and to make sure that there is always at least ONE response. Go on...I dare ya...
hmmmm...some really good food for thought! i wish i could say salsa was my thing for the pure joy of it but i haven't done it in forever! need to start that up again. do my daily morning walks on the beach count?
ReplyDeleteI think your morning walks do count. I also know that your salsa dancing was a very powerful way to express yourself and hope that you can somehow get it back in to your routine :)
